Information for parents

28 August 2020 (by admin)

Good Morning

As promised, here is a reminder of the systems we have put in place for the full reopening of school on Wednesday. I cannot say how long we will need to keep these systems in place but for now we all need to ensure we are following them. I have also tried to include answers to some of the questions that parents have been asking.

• Year groups have staggered start and finish times (these have been shared individually with all parents) and children will enter and be collected from allocated areas, again these have been shared with you.

• Parents will not be able to park in the school grounds either at the beginning or end of the school day.

• Children and parents will not be allowed to congregate together on the yards either at the beginning or end of the school day – children should arrive promptly at their allocated time and should be collected promptly at the end of their day. There will be a marked area in the car park to show where parents of KS2 children should drop off and collect their children.

• Only one adult should accompany a child to school.

• Only Y5 & 6 pupils will be allowed to travel to and from school unaccompanied and only if we have written permission from parents. All other children must be accompanied by an adult.

• Parents and visitors on any part of the school site are respectfully asked to wear a face covering.

• School will be providing hot meals for any children from the first day. Please make sure that any dinner money is brought into school by your child in a clearly marked envelope.

• Wherever possible, any questions or queries should be made by phone, email or Class Dojo to the school and not by visiting the school office. If it is essential that you come into school, only 1 person at a time can enter main reception.

• At the moment children should only bring to school:
- Outdoor coat
- A packed lunch box / bag if needed
- A book bag (or small PE bag) with indoor gym shoes

• Children should NOT bring :
- Backpacks or any large bags
- Pens / pencils or any other stationary
- PE kits

I’m sure you will agree with me that, following the reopening of schools in other parts of the UK, it would be extremely naive of us to think this virus is no longer with us. We must all work together as a community to ensure that we keep not only ourselves and our own families safe but all the children and adults who are part of our school community as well.
Anybody, child or adult, presenting with COVID symptoms mainly described as - a high temperature, a new, continuous cough (this is described as coughing a lot for more than an hour or 3 such episodes in 24 hours) or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste should not enter the school site. A test should be taken and remain at home until you have the results.

We will do our very best within school to keep everyone as safe as possible but it is vital that you support all our efforts by following the guidelines we have in place.

The staff and I will be looking at, (and no doubt amending again!), our Reopening Risk Assessment on our Inset Day and once we have finalised it I will put it on our website for everyone to see the measures we are taking in school in line with local authority and government guidelines.

I am very much looking forward to seeing all the children back in school next week and to try and get back to the new ‘normal’ as soon as possible.

Kind regards
Mrs Lumsdon
