Pupil Rewards

We love celebrating the efforts and successes of our amazing pupils. See below for details.

Golden Child Awards

At Castletown Primary, we reward good work, attendance and behaviour. Our Golden Child Award is presented each week in our Friday assembly to one pupil per class who has shone out for their weekly efforts.

Headteacher Awards

The Headteacher awards special certificates to any children that are seen to be shining examples around school (positive behaviour, hard work, politeness etc.). These are presented in our Friday assembly by the Headteacher.

You can see some receivers of the Headteacher's award in the photograph above, standing alongside the Golden Children.

Attendance Rewards

Each week during our Friday assembly, we look at our attendance. Classes with 100% attendance in a week receive an extra 10 minute playtime. Classes with over 96% attendance in a week will receive an extra 5 minute playtime.

Each half term term, we also recognise good attendance. Pupils receive a certificate for 95-99% attendance, as well as 100% attendance. We also have a termly tombola for a chance to win an amazing attendance prize.

Reading Awards

Pupils are rewarded for effort and progress in reading. Each week, we celebrate the achievements in reading during our Friday assemblies. Each term children have a chance to be awarded a golden token to select a book from the book vending machine in the library. We will also hold a series of reading events during the year where children can also be awarded a reading token.

House Point Award

Pupils collect house points throughout the week. There are six Houses:

  • Alnwick
  • Bamburgh
  • Barnard
  • Hylton
  • Lumley
  • Warkworth

House point totals are shared with the children at the end of the week and winning House Captains are presented with our school 'winners' shield.

Information about house points can be seen on our website home page or on the display in the school hall. This is updated every week.

Wellbeing Warrior Awards

During our Mental Health and Wellbeing weeks, pupils are rewarded with awards for outstanding work and effort.
