World Book Day: Castletown Story
As part of World Book Day activities on the 3rd of March, each year group contributed to writing a whole school story. The story was based upon an illustration which was used as a stimulus for writing the story. At the end of the day, we held a special assembly in the school hall where Mr Duncan read the full story to the whole school.
World Book Day: Bedtime Stories
To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March, we recorded a bedtime story for each day of the week. In case you missed them, here they are below for you to enjoy.
As part of our World Book Day events, children brought into school good quality, unwanted books from home in order to swap at school. On 1st March, all of the books were displayed in the Crafty Cabin and during the day each child was able to go along and select a book to take home. It was fantastic to see all of out children so excited about books and eager to start reading their new book.

Virtual Author Visits
Year 3 had a fantastic and very informative virtual visit from the author Maddie Moate, who told us all about her book ‘STUFF’. She told us about her adventures around the world and how this inspired her book. Her book is all about recycling and we couldn’t believe that she saw paper being made from elephant poo!Year 4's virtual visit was with Jeff Kinney, the best selling author of the popular 'Diary of a wimpy kid' series. He showed us how he plans his stories, sharing extracts from his own diaries, and led us in a draw-a-long of Greg. The children also got to hear some of his brand new book ' Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot ' which we have now put into our school library for the children to enjoy!
